The pusillanimous lion in the Wizard of OZ shouldn’t feel distress,
He looks so scary why would anyone with him mess?

I don’t have courage; I’m filled with fear,
I shy away even when I’m right, which is really queer?
I often hyperventilate and find my body trembles,
When faced with hostility or anything that it resembles.

Pusillanimous is the correct choice.  Pusillanimous suggests someone is lacking in courage or unnaturally fearful.
